AARP Medicare Insurance

AARP Medicare Insurance Plans

For over half a century, the AARP has been providing valuable services and discounts to people over 50. The AARP has increased in both size and influence over the years, and now boasts a membership of about 40 million.

The AARP has taken an active stance over the years with regard to senior health care. Its influence played a part in the establishment of Medicare Part D (Medicare prescription drug plans), and the AARP continues to play an important role in senior health care debates today.

Along with numerous other services it provides seniors, the AARP offers a variety of Medicare and Medigap plans at a good price. MedicareMall is proud to collaborate with this fine nonpartisan, nonprofit organization in making a variety of AARP Medicare insurance and AARP Medicare supplement plans available to our clients.

Medicare insurance plans offered by the AARP include:

Medicare Advantage

Medicare Advantage plans are optional Medicare plans available to people already enrolled in both Medicare Part A (hospital) and Medicare Part B (medical). Medicare Advantage options include the following:

  • Medicare Private Fee-for-Service (PFFS) Plans Private Fee-for-Service Plans generally allow you to visit any doctor or hospital Original Medicare would allow you to visit, as long as the doctor or hospital agrees to treat you. A PFFS plan can require you to follow strict rules and determines how payments are to be divided between the PFFS and the patient.
  • Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) Plans HMO plans normally require referrals from primary care physicians and treatment by specialists and hospitals within the plan’s network.
  • Medicare Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) Plans PPO plans allow you to use doctors, hospitals, and providers outside the plan’s network at additional cost.
  • Medicare Special Needs Plans (SNPs) SNPs provide focused, specialized health for specific groups of people including beneficiaries of both Medicare and Medicaid, those in nursing homes, and those with certain chronic conditions.

Medicare Prescription Drug Plans

These plans (sometimes called PDPs) add prescription drug coverage to Original Medicare, some Medicare Cost Plans, some Medicare Private Fee-for-Service (PFFS) Plans, and Medicare Medical Savings Account (MSA) Plans.

Medicare Advantage plans also provide Medicare prescription drug coverage. Through these plans you get all of your Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B coverage along with prescription drug coverage (Medicare Part D).
